Angel Reese is in the middle of one of her best seasons. She’s averaging a career-high 15.8 points. Reese also has 22 double-doubles in 32 games. She can eclipse her personal best of 26 double-doubles this season. However, the Atlanta Dream star’s shooting efficiency continues to limit her ceiling.
After a decent stretch of games in which Reese consistently shot around 50.0% from the field following the All-Star break, her efficiency has dropped again over her past three outings. In that stretch, Reese has averaged 11.7 ppg but has shot 28.2% from the field, 20.0% from 3-point range and 66.7% from the free-throw line.
The Aug. 7 game against the Washington Mystics, in which Reese shot 1-for-12, is primarily responsible for the dip. Reese bounced back on Monday against Toronto, shooting 7-for-14 to score 20 points. However, on Thursday against the Connecticut Sun, Reese had another underwhelming offensive night, finishing with eight points on 3-for-13 shooting.
After StatMuse posted Reese’s shooting splits from these three games, the WNBA world criticized the Dream star.

Angel Reese continues to dominate on rebounds despite shooting struggles
Regardless of her struggles on offense, Angel Reese’s fans and team can expect her to give 100% to win the rebounding and defensive battles. The three-game stretch, during which she shot 28.2% but averaged 15.0 rpg, sums up her effort and drive to never give up on plays.
Reese kept that up on Thursday against the Sun. While she couldn’t get it going from the field, Reese grabbed 15 rebounds. The All-Star forward also broke the franchise record for most rebounds in a season with her 375th rebound.
Reese now has 384 rebounds. Naz Hillmon is second on the Dream with 141 rebounds. Reese leads Jessica Sheppard by nine rebounds this season, despite playing one fewer game.
