Caitlin Clark has earned plenty of memorable descriptions throughout her rise from college basketball phenomenon to Indiana Fever superstar.
Dick Vitale may have delivered one of the best yet.
The legendary ESPN college basketball analyst celebrated Clark’s remarkable season with another enthusiastic message on social media. Vitale, who has repeatedly praised the 24-year-old guard, described her using three words that perfectly capture the electricity she brings to the court.
“She has been the 3 S star SUPER SCINTILLATING & SENSATIONAL!” Vitale wrote on X.
Vitale also called Clark a “solid gold” prime-time performer, adding another colorful endorsement to his growing collection of comments about the Fever star. The praise may sound over the top coming from anyone else. With Vitale, however, it feels entirely natural. His unmistakable enthusiasm has been part of the fabric of basketball for decades, and Clark’s combination of deep shooting, ambitious passing and flair for the dramatic is tailor-made for his vocabulary.
More importantly, the numbers support every bit of his excitement.

Clark is averaging 21.9 points, 8.3 assists, 3.9 rebounds and one steal per game while shooting 45 percent from the field. She ranks third in the WNBA in scoring and leads the league in assists.

Indiana has climbed to 22-12 with Clark directing its offense, putting the Fever fourth in the standings and firmly in the championship conversation.
Her value extends beyond her own production. Clark’s ability to stretch defenses several feet beyond the 3-point line creates driving lanes and open looks for everyone around her. She can take over as a scorer when Indiana needs a basket, but her court vision makes it difficult for opponents to commit too much defensive attention to her. Vitale previously called Clark and Kelsey Mitchell the WNBA’s “most explosive backcourt.” He also has argued that Clark belongs in the MVP conversation and described her as “invaluable” to the league.
Those takes are becoming increasingly difficult to dispute.
Clark’s individual statistics place her among the WNBA’s elite players, while Indiana’s record demonstrates that her brilliance is translating into victories. The Fever are no longer simply an entertaining team built around the league’s biggest attraction. They have developed into a legitimate contender capable of making a deep postseason run.
