It almost sounds crazy to say that the Los Angeles Dodgers could use some more help considering, on paper, they're by far the best team in Major League Baseball, but as Andrew Friedman has shown over the past few years, this is a Dodgers organization that's going to continue to look for ways to improve.
The Boston Red Sox might have given them just the right chance to do exactly that earlier this week when they announced that they were designating Jake Rogers for assignment.
Some are now starting to connect the dots, especially with Rogers catching Tarik Skubal for a lot of his career.
"Los Angeles wouldn't be adding Rogers for his offense; he's a .199 career hitter. He can handle pitching staffs, and would be a low-cost, low-risk addition for a Dodgers team that's desperate for catching depth.
"It's still unclear when Will Smith will return from a lingering neck issue, and while Dalton Rushing may have avoided surgery, he's most likely done catching in 2026," Colin Keane wrote.
Will Smith and Dalton Rushing are both dealing with injuries, though Rushing's is a bit more interesting because reports indicate he could be out a bit longer than some think at the moment.
Until there's really any say on that, it's possible Los Angeles will want to be smart and add a player like Rogers for insurance.
