MIAMI GARDENS — The Miami Dolphins were back in pads at Tuesday’s training camp practice after a lighter session Monday and before Thursday’s joint practice with the New York Giants.
Dolphins cornerback JuJu Brents was back during team stretch after missing more than a week of drills. Rookie wide receiver Kevin Coleman Jr. is also progressing.
The Dolphins are without defensive tackles Zach Sieler and Kenneth Grant, both week to week, according to coach Jeff Hafley. Joining them working out on the side of drills were linebacker Jordyn Brooks, defensive ends Clelin Ferrell and Robert Beal Jr., wide receiver Theo Wease and tight end Ben Sims. Brooks was seen with a sleeve on his right leg.
Quarterback Quinn Ewers and linebacker Ronnie Harrison Jr. were also not practicing.
Rookie wide receiver Chris Bell was in a red, non-contact jersey again for his second practice since being activated off the non-football injury list.
Here are observations from Tuesday’s practice:
— The 1-on-1 sessions between the linemen started with the first-team O-line winning reps across the board, including Jonah Savaiinaea and Kadyn Proctor, but Matthew Butler pushed Savaiinaea back on a later rep, as Proctor won again in the second go-around.
— LT Patrick Paul locked up Chop Robinson on one rep, continuing the iron-sharpens-iron battle going between them in camp.
— Edge Cameron Goode swooped past Caedan Wallace to win a rep.
— LB Trey Moore got around Charlie Heck with a speed rush to the outside; DE Max Llewellyn used a swim to get past Kevin Cline and also beat G Jim Bonifas; Alex Huntley also quickly ripped past Bonifas; Solid anchor exhibited from rookie G DJ Campbell against newcomer DT Cam Rice; T Gottlieb Ayedze with a couple of good reps at tackle.
— Dolphins rookie linebacker Kyle Louis was again seen working with safeties during individual drills. Also as players in the secondary drilled their position work, safety Dante Trader Jr. was giving rookie cornerback Chris Johnson pointers.
— Former Dolphins coach Dave Wannstedt was again at Tuesday’s practice. He was seen walking around players as they stretched at the start of the day’s work and approached edge rusher Chop Robinson for a conversation.
