The 2026 preseason kicks off for the Miami Dolphins on Friday when they visit the Washington Commanders. The first preseason game is primarily about getting game-speed repetitions with live tackling rather than focusing on the game planning and end results. We will likely see plenty of developmental players who are fighting for positions on the back end of the roster.
But, we also know the Dolphins will have at least some of their starters on the field at the beginning of the game. Quarterback Malik Willis is expected to start, and if you are going to put your top passer out on the field, you are going to surround him with his top receiving threats and the offensive line tasked to protect him. The starters may not be on the field for long, but we will get a chance to see the 2026 version of the Dolphins, a unit that looks much different than the 2025 version.
