Max Holloway took offense of the comment posted in response to his remark about Islam Makhachev walking around with two UFC belts this past weekend in Philadelphia, and it’s not aimed at the UFC welterweight champion.
Holloway criticized Makhachev for posing with two UFC belts after his UFC 330 win over Ian Machado Garry this past weekend “for aura” since only one title was one the line on Aug. 15, and Makhachev replied that Holloway “don’t understand” what’s like to walk with so many belts.
“I don’t know, bro,” Makhachev wrote. “It’s even too heavy to hold. But you don’t understand, sorry.”
It didn’t take long for Holloway to react, adding that he doesn’t believe Makhachev was the one writing those words.
“I don’t know how heavy these are?” Holloway questioned on a live stream while holding UFC and BMF belts. “That guy got hit in his head too many times. I ain’t talking about Islam, I’m talking about the guy who’s running his IG for him.”
“I kind of know how heavy these are, bro,” Holloway said. “These boys are heavy. Don’t tell me I don’t know what they feel like. You gotta do homework on your boy. Don’t ever come for my throat, bro. Don’t ever come for my throat, bro, especially when you’re hiding behind another man’s IG.”
The former UFC featherweight and BMF champion Holloway last fought in the main event of UFC 329 on July 11, defeating Conor McGregor via injury.
“I actually need to actually go to UFC.com and buy the Conor McGregor belt because they did not give me that,” Holloway said.
