San Francisco (51-72) defeated Colorado (49-74), 7-1, on Aug. 15 at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California. Former Vol Drew Gilbert started in center field and served as the Giants' leadoff batter. He went 3-for-4 and hit a solo home run 361 feet with one out in the third inning. Gilbert also hit a two-run single in the fourth inning. He totaled three RBIs, two runs, one walk and one strikeout in the second contest of a three-game series. The series is tied, 1-1. A series finale between the Giants and Rockies will be contested on Sunday with first pitch slated for 4:05 p.m. EDT. Gilbert played at Tennessee from 2020-22 and appeared in 141 games, including 134 starts, as a batter for Tennessee. He recorded a .314 batting average, 22 home runs, 140 RBIs and 116 runs with the Vols. Gilbert also appeared in 11 contests as a relief pitcher and had a 2-0 record. He was selected by Houston in the first round (No. 28 overall) of the 2022 MLB draft.
