Jon Scheyer and the Duke Blue Devils have the No. 1 recruiting class in the 2026 cycle, welcoming in a very talented group to Durham.
Since Scheyer took over for Coach K, the recruiting hasn't fallen off one bit. You could even argue that it has been stronger. As Duke moves forward with the 2027 and 2028 classes, they are pursuing some top targets.
Right now, they have just one commitment in 2027 as Kager Knueppel pledged his commitment to the program earlier in the Summer. Since then, they have identified a few top targets for their recruiting board. And now, they have added another.
Just a few days ago, Duke officially entered the race for five-star small forward Demarcus Henry. The 2027 recruit hails from Chandler, Arizona and plays at Compass Prep. He has a total of 29 offers in his recruitment with programs like BYU, Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, Duke and North Carolina all involved.
Here is what 247Sports' Adam Finkelstein said about Henry:
Henry is a big lefty wing who combines physical tools with an ascending skill-set. Standing at 6-foot-7 with a 6-foot-11 wingspan and an increasingly strong frame that should really blow up in the coming years, he has terrific measurables. He’s also a smooth natural mover who covers the court effortlessly and can slide his feet. He has shown good natural touch since he was younger and clean shooting mechanics when he’s in rhythm. So, while there have been glaring two-way tools for years, Henry is now starting to put them all together and turn them into consistent production.
The 6-foot-7, 190-pound Henry is ranked No. 4 nationally, No. 1 small forward and the No. 1 player in the state of Arizona per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
Henry plans to set his visits this month and next for the Fall and then will hopefully commit sometime in the Spring. He did have eight finalists at one point but with the Blue Devils now offering, it certainly could change a lot of things in his recruitment moving forward.
