Eagles might've found their new WR2, and it's not Makai Lemon originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The Philadelphia Eagles offense will look a lot different in 2026 than it has in previous seasons. Sean Mannion's offense is a new scheme, and A.J. Brown is no longer on the roster. While DeVonta Smith is sure to get plenty of work for Philly in 2026, the Eagles need to find a new No. 2 wide receiver. That seemingly was Makai Lemon's job, as they drafted him in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. However, according to Jimmy Kempski of Philly Voice, the Eagles might've found their new No. 2 WR, but it's not Lemon. Instead, Kempski believes that Dontayvion Wicks has earned the No. 2 job in Philadelphia and will be the WR2 behind Smith this season. Eagles' new WR2 might be Dontayvion Wicks, not Makai Lemon "It's pretty clear to me that Wicks is going to be the Eagles' WR2 this year, at least to start the season," Kempski writes. "He and Cooper have both had good camps, but Wicks has more game experience, and he has quickly developed good rapport and timing with Hurts. And you know what? Let's just call it." Kempski is predicting that Wicks will be the Eagles' new No. 2 wide receiver, winning the job over Lemon, who is out due to a hamstring injury, and over the other receivers on the depth chart. Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore were noteworthy free agent additions, while Darius Cooper has really been impressing in camp this year as a 2025 undrafted free agent. But Wicks appears to have won the WR2 job opposite Smith in the Eagles' offense. Jalen Hurts and Wicks have been a good connection this summer, and the former Green Bay Packers WR could break out with the Eagles after showing potential with the Packers. MORE: Eagles' Jalen Hurts 'shouldn't have trouble' reaching Hall of Fame if he can continue to have playoff success Wicks caught 30 passes for 332 yards and two touchdowns last season for the Packers in 14 games on 46 targets. He just wasn't heavily involved in the passing game for the Packers during his three seasons with the team. But now in Philadelphia, he has a good chance to earn some work, and with Kempski calling this camp battle in Wicks' favor over Lemon, the 25-year-old WR could be in store for a big season. Eagles fans should see Wicks in game action for the team during Saturday's preseason opener against the Baltimore Ravens in Baltimore.  If he impresses during the first preseason game, he could further solidify his WR2 status, regardless of Lemon's health. But if nothing else, it appears the Eagles have three intriguing WRs with Smith, Lemon, and Wicks. More NFL news:
