Bryson DeChambeau left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf way back in 2022.

DeChambeau has loved his time on LIV Golf, and his popularity in the game has actually grown since he left the PGA Tour.

However, the 32-year-old American will be out of contract with LIV at the end of the current season.

Bryson DeChambeau seems to be the perfect fit for LIV Golf, with his huge online following and penchant for playing up to the crowds.

However, DeChambeau’s future with LIV Golf is far from guaranteed right now, with the investment from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund set to come to an end after this season finishes.

But how does he really feel about the new investment that has apparently been secured by LIV CEO Scott O’Neil?

Eamon Lynch suggests how Bryson DeChambeau feels about LIV Golf’s future

Eamon Lynch has been one of LIV Golf’s most outspoken critics over the past few years.

The golf journalist has also been one of DeChambeau’s loudest detractors.

So it should be no surprise that when the subjects of LIV Golf and DeChambeau came up, Lynch didn’t pull any punches.

Speaking on The Golf Channel on Wednesday, Lynch was asked whether the Team Championship being canceled has planted a seed of doubt in the players’ minds about what is viable moving forward.

“I guess that depends on where you are contractually,“ he replied.

“If you’re a Jon Ram, and they owe you a lot of money still, and, you know, there were some reports last week that the public investment fund may try to pay pennies on the dollar on those, in return for no liability, no future litigation.

“They may see that as a way to get the best they’re going to get out of it.

“Then other guys who are under contract may think, ‘okay, well, my best option is to stick with this and hope that they find the funding’.

“But ultimately, LIV appears to be determined. Scott O’Neil pointed out last week, to make this, his phrase was more about equity than cash.

“But the value of that equity has got to be of significant question to a lot of these guys as well.

“Bryson seems to be all in on it. He’s very much invested in the idea of this league and he’s probably a guy who would be easily persuaded in terms of the equity value, thinking that he can build something up, but he’s not owed any more money by them at this point.

“His contract is up at the end of the season. So he’s in a very different boat from a guy who might still be owed nine figures by LIV.

“And the calculus would be changing rapidly. They could start looking for an exit, thinking about what alternatives are open to them for 2027.“

Eamon Lynch comments on LIV Golf Michigan being canceled

“It’s unsurprising, given the reports that have been out there for a while, and it’s sort of unpromising, but it’s, I guess, evidence that nothing is ever as they say it is, including the fact that they’re still selling tickets as of this morning for an event that isn’t going to happen,“ Lynch said.

“And, you know, this is a tour that said it was funded through 2032, just a few months ago. It wasn’t.

“It was a tour that said it was going to complete the season. It’s apparently not going to complete the season either.

“That’s two events that have now been cancelled, with New Orleans having been cancelled earlier this summer.

“It doesn’t really change the calculus for the executives at LIV. They are still trying to source new funding.

“They’re still trying to figure out how to build a sustainable business after the profligacy of the Saudis over the last few years.

“It may change the calculus for the players a little bit though, because this is a significant purse that they’re not going to see.

“This was money they were promised. They’re not going to get that money now.

“Any future that LIV has is going to be contingent on keeping the players, and certainly keeping the big name players, in there.

“And this isn’t encouraging. If you’re one of those players, we’re now 11 days away from the presumed end of the LIV season on August 23rd when the Indianapolis event wraps up, and that’s when you’re going to see the rubber hit the road.

“That’s when you’re going to see who’s eyeing the exits here.“
