Evaluating where Jaguars' rookies stand on depth chart

With the Jacksonville Jaguars embarking on Week 2 of the NFL preseason, where do things currently stand for the team's 2026 rookie draft class? Let's take a closer look at the progress each player has made. TE Nate Boerkircher Boerkircher has seemingly cemented himself as TE2 within the offense. He will primarily take on a blocking-heavy role, although the Jaguars do believe that Boerkircher has upside as a pass-catcher. DT Albert Regis Regis is the backup nose tackle behind DaVon Hamilton. In that role, where a player takes up space, clogs running lanes, and occupies blockers, Regis may not always stuff the stat sheet, but taking on those responsibilities can help create opportunities for others. As Liam Coen mentioned, defensive tackle can come with a steep learning curve for a rookie, so Regis is still a "work in progress." That said, Regis did have a good showing in his preseason debut. G Emmanuel Pregnon Pregnon was one of the standout performers in the Jaguars' preseason opener, catching the attention of Coen. From the sounds of it, the team will take its time, giving Pregnon the opportunity to continue developing before he takes on a starting role. S Jalen Huskey Huskey was all over the field in the preseason opener, showcasing his willingness as a tackler and a play style that the Jaguars' coaching staff probably loved seeing on tape. He will be either the fourth or fifth safety on the depth chart, which likely means minimal defensive snaps in Year 1, although Huskey could be a core special teams player right away. DE Wesley Williams It's been a mostly quiet training camp for Williams, but he was another rookie who popped during the preseason game. The coaching staff has raved about his play style and ability to impact both the run and passing games. All of that was on display against the Saints. Williams seems to be the fifth member of the defensive end rotation behind Josh Hines-Allen, Travon Walker, BJ Green, and Danny Striggow. TE Tanner Koziol Koziol has already surpassed veterans Quintin Morris and Hunter Long on the depth chart. He will be the third tight end option when the Jaguars are in 13 personnel, or he could see snaps when the team wants an added pass-catching presence at the tight end position. WR Josh Cameron and CJ Williams Both rookie wideouts have impressed since training camp, showcasing their abilities to get open and be reliable options for Trevor Lawrence. Cameron has also had reps as a return man. Cameron and Williams will be the fifth and sixth options on the wide receiver depth chart. DE Zach Durfee Durfee has flashed fairly regularly during the training camp practices. That said, at a crowded position, it remains to be seen how large of a role Durfee can carve out in Year 1. LB Parker Hughes The Jaguars announced on Monday that Hughes has been placed on injured reserve. His rookie season is over.
