EVANS, GA (WJBF)- Friday night will be one last opportunity for GHSA schools to hold scrimmages before the official season kicks off on August 21.
One team itching to play against another opponent is the Evans Knights. They’re in their second season under head coach Lee Hutto.
The team went 3-7 last season, but they’re optimistic about their growth because they started 8 freshmen and 5 sophomores last year. The Knights are staying in class 5A this season and will face the 6A Grovetown warriors in tomorrow’s scrimmage.
“You know, just great effort. Get out there as play as hard as they can possibly play, of course we want great execution, we want our guys to be sharp in all three phases of the game. We want our guys to play physical, see our guys run around and fly around to the ball, be physical on the line of scrimmage, and we want them to just have fun, that’s the most important thing,” Hutto said.
Kickoff time set for 7:30 p.m. at Grovetown High School.
