Everton In Talks Over £30m Return As Spurs Open Door: Best Deal For The Toffees?

Everton continue talks with Tottenham over a possible Richarlison return, according to a report from Sébastien Vidal. Regular contact has continued between the clubs as the 29-year-old Brazilian considers a return to Goodison Park. Tottenham have no active push to sell him, yet Spurs remain open to a deal because his contract runs until 2027. Everton could wait for Beto or Thierno Barry to leave before moving faster. The report places those exits at the centre of the timing, with the Toffees needing room before accelerating.

Vidal’s update points to a live discussion rather than an agreed transfer. Richarlison’s willingness gives Everton encouragement, while Tottenham’s stance keeps the door open without forcing negotiations. Spurs can still retain the forward, and that leverage is important with the window approaching its final stretch. For Everton, the sequence looks clear: sort an attacking departure first, then decide whether a reunion merits a formal push.

T4O take: Everton need Richarlison, but the numbers must govern the deal

Everton

Richarlison gives Everton a reason to spend. He earned 54 Brazil caps and scored 20 goals, while his 2025/26 Tottenham season brought 11 Premier League goals and four assists from 32 appearances, including 20 starts, across 1,975 minutes. He added one goal and one assist in seven Champions League games. That record gives Moyes a proven scorer for an attack needing more effectiveness.

Context matters, though. Beto scored nine Premier League goals for Everton last season, while Thierno Barry registered eight, so the numbers don’t suggest a disaster. Still, Richarlison offers qualities the current options don’t replicate: he can lead the line, drift left, press hard and handle Goodison Park pressure, where he scored 53 goals across four seasons.

Everton can give Moyes a familiar weapon

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi accepts a sale, while Spurs seek at least £30m and want replacements including Cody Gakpo. Richarlison’s deal runs to 2027 with a club option for 2028, giving Tottenham leverage. Everton should resist that price despite financial constraints. A loan-to-buy around £25m makes sense, with Everton covering his £90,000 weekly wages and an obligation linked to survival or appearances.

Everton should make a permanent deal dependent on an exit, with Beto the obvious candidate, because squad space matters as much as the fee. Moyes needs goals, tactical flexibility and an experienced forward, and Richarlison can supply those elements without a long settling period. The report leaves Everton with one calculation: sell first, negotiate hard, then decide whether £30m represents value or Tottenham’s opening position.
