Caitlin Clark was on fire tonight vs the Dallas Wings, dropping 17 points in the third quarter before finishing with 29 points and 10 assists in the Fever’s 98-87 win.
Former NFL star Robert Griffin III took note of the Fever guard’s performance and also championed her as this season’s MVP.
RGIII Believes Caitlin Clark Is The 2026 WNBA MVP
By just her third season in the WNBA, Clark has now notched 13 games where she’s dropped 25+ points and 10+ assists. The next closest is Sabrina Ionescu, who has six such games, while Diana Taurasi is third with three.
This was enough for Griffin III to post what he believes to be the definitive MVP leaderboard for the 2026 season thus far.
According to him, Clark has surpassed four-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson in the MVP race, pushing Wilson to second place. He rounds out the list with Olivia Miles, CC’s teammate Kelsey Mitchell, and Wings’ Paige Bueckers.
This isn’t surprising, as RGIII has been a Clark truther ever since she came into the league. After her 45-point outburst against the Seattle Storm in July, he wrote, “Caitlin Clark is the face of the WNBA.”
While many have chalked up Clark truthers to recency bias, she’s been very consistent with her production. The Fever star dropped 20+ points in six of her past seven games and is averaging 21.9 points and 8.3 assists a game on nearly 36% shooting from beyond the arc.
A’ja Wilson does have the former University of Iowa star’s stats beat for this season, however. She’s putting up 25.9 points on 52% shooting from the field and a 41.6% clip from 3-point land, all while grabbing 9.7 rebounds a game.
Team record is also a major swing factor in deciding the MVP. The Aces are 24-11 while the Fever are 1.5 games back at 22-12. There isn’t a yawning gap between these two teams, so their individual stats might be what are used to pit them against one another as the season comes to a close.
Another high-ranking pick for MVP is this season’s second overall pick, Olivia Miles. She’s the Lynx’s leading scorer in merely her rookie year at 19.8 points per game while pushing the team to the best record in the league at 28-7.
CC certainly has a tough gauntlet in front of her when it comes to potentially winning her first MVP. She may not even be the MVP frontrunner on her own team, depending on who’s analyzing her game due to Kelsey Mitchell’s offensive prowess.
However, if Clark does end up hoisting the MVP trophy at the end of this 2026 campaign, it shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone.
