The final transfer fee is reportedly $56 million (€48.5 million) and not the previously quoted €50 million plus a further €5 million in variables when it was widely reported that the two clubs in question had reached an agreement in principle.
SPORT explains that there are no bonuses involved in the transfer. Yet still, FC Barcelona hasn’t done bad to recoup almost all of the €55 million it agreed to pay for Ferran in 2021 from Manchester City.
FC Barcelona Sporting Director Deco has done particularly good business considering Ferran was in the last 11 months of his contract, which was set to expire on June 30, 2027.
Had negotiations hit a brick wall, Ferran could have left for free next summer without Barca earning a penny in return.
At the Parc des Princes, he’ll be reunited with his former Spain boss Luis Enrique, who led the Catalans to their last Champions League title in 2015 at Lionel Messi’s peak.
