Florida football unranked in second preseason Top 25 poll

Florida football will enter the 2026 season unranked in both major preseason polls. The Florida Gators are second in other's receiving votes in the AP preseason Top 25 poll released on Monday, August 17. Technically that makes UF the 27th ranked team under first-year coach Jon Sumrall heading into its season opener on Sept. 5 against Florida Atlantic (7:45 p.m., SEC Network). Sumrall said he doesn't pay attention to preseason polls and is focused squarely on getting the team ready for the 2026 season following its first fall camp scrimmage on August 15. Florida will hold its second and final intrasquad scrimmage this Saturday, "The clock's ticking here, so they've got to be urgent," Sumrall said. "They got to strain.” Florida also held the 27th spot (others receiving votes) in the US LBM coaches poll released on August 4. The Gators will face five teams ranked in the preseason AP Top 25, beginning Sept. 26 when they host No. 9 Ole Miss. Florida also will play at No. 25 Missouri on Oct. 3, at No. 5 Texas on Oct. 17, face No. 3 Georgia in Atlanta on Oct. 31 and host No. 10 Oklahoma at The Swamp on Nov. 26.
