The Gators made plenty of additions under new head coach Jon Sumrall, so who was named as Florida's most intriguing newcomer heading into the 2026 season? New offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner was identified as the program's most intriguing newcomer. Before coming to Florida, Faulkner had spent the last 18 years working as a college football offensive coordinator. Most recently, Faulkner was the OC and tight ends coach for Georgia Tech. Faulkner's arrival in Gainesville could be one of the more important additions to Florida's coaching staff heading into the 2026 season. The Gators' new coordinator is calling plays for one of the nation's most talented skill position rooms that will feature Jadan Baugh, Vernell Brown III and Dallas Wilson. As the Gators look to get off to a strong start under Sumrall, having the right quarterback under center will be one of the team's most important factors, and Faulkner will play a massive role in that. The Gators have yet to name a starting quarterback. However, Aaron Philo played under Faulkner at Georgia Tech, albeit as a backup and the relationship is already there. Whoever the Gators name as the starter, Faulkner will have an impact on their success and how they execute this season.
