Best No. 28 in Steelers history: DB Clendon Thomas The honor of being named the best No. 28 in Steelers history belongs to an elite defensive back from the 1960s: Clendon Thomas. Thomas, who was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the second round of the 1958 NFL Draft, played four seasons before joining Pittsburgh in 1962. During his seven years with the Steelers, Thomas recorded 23 interceptions in 96 games. He also was received Pro Bowl and Second-Team All-Pro recognition in 1963 for his stellar eight-interception season. A member of the Pittsburgh Steelers Legends Team, Thomas is no doubt the best No. 28 in team history.
