The Angel Reese-Caitlin Clark rivalry added another memorable installment Sunday, with Clark and the Indiana Fever outlasting Reese and the Atlanta Dream 95-91 in overtime. The matchup also included a viral moment, with a smiling Clark being caught on camera in the background after Reese missed a game-winning layup on the final possession of regulation.

Reese’s miscue and the Dream’s eventual loss sparked an outpouring of reaction online, with former longtime ESPN anchor Linda Cohn being one of the people to weigh in.

Cohn, WNBA fans chime in

“Sometimes life happens the way it’s supposed to, especially with these two,” Cohn said in response to the meme of Clark smiling following Reese’s failure.

“Great clip, no doubt. CC started smiling as soon as the horn sounded, when CC started walking towards and facing her teammates. Don’t think it was directed at AR, CC was smiling because of how lucky they were to get to OT. There was hoop left to play, don’t see CC gloating there,” a fan added.

“It warms my heart that you CC fans are still not over that championship game!” a Reese fan fired back.

“Angel Reese’s game is straight up Ben Simmons-level trash. Decent defense, terrible offense. Can’t make a layup!” another person said.

“Damn Linda , I expect more from you, this is really disappointing,” a fourth person tweeted.

“Damn this tweet is perfect, its poetic,” someone else commented.

Cohn is an outspoken Clark fan

We’re not sure if Cohn is specifically anti-Reese in general, though the tone of her tweet makes it obvious which side of the rivalry she is on.

Since retiring from ESPN, the Hall of Fame sportscaster has been sharing her opinions on “The Linda Cohn Show” on YouTube two nights a week. This morning, Cohn promoted an upcoming segment tonight regarding Clark.

“You don’t promote other stars INSTEAD of Caitlin Clark. You promote them THROUGH Caitlin Clark,” reads the tagline.

Cohn has also advocated for Clark, who has been playing her best basketball of the season of late, to be voted WNBA MVP for the 2026 season.
