Texas A&M’s basketball roster for the 2026-27 season appears to finally be complete, and the final player came from a pretty darn unexpected source: Former Texas Longhorn G Jordan Pope.

Pope averaged just over 13 points and 29 minutes per game for the Horns last season, and appeared to have exhausted his collegiate eligibility. But as we all know, college eligibility is just a social construct, and a lawsuit challenging the NCAA’s decision not to apply their new age-based eligibility rules to outgoing seniors cleared the way for Pope, among many other players, the chance at one more year.
According to a post by Pope on Instagram, his preference would have been to return to Texas, but their roster is already full, and the Horns’ loss is now the Aggies’ gain.

Pope joins a revamped A&M roster that also includes prominent transfers PJ Haggerty (Kansas State) and Jalen Reece (LSU). The Aggies will begin year two of the Bucky McMillan era on Tuesday, Nov. 3, when they host perennial powerhouse program Alabama State at Reed Arena.
