Former Baltimore Orioles fan favorite Trey Mancini announced his retirement from professional baseball on Tuesday.
Mancini, who also spent time with the Chicago Cubs, Houston Astros, and most recently, the Los Angeles Angels, played eight seasons in the Majors.
The 34-year-old was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in 2020, but returned to the Orioles in 2021 after undergoing six months of chemotherapy.
The best season of Mancini's career came with the Orioles in 2019, when he hit a career-high 35 home runs with a 134 OPS+ in 154 games.
Baltimore traded the first baseman/outfielder to the Astros at the 2022 trade deadline, and he helped the AL West club win its second World Series in six seasons.

After a 79-game stint with the Cubs in 2023, Mancini accepted minor league deals with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Angels.
He finally made it back to the Majors with the Angels a few months ago, 1,043 days after his last MLB appearance.
Mancini's career is a story of resilience. There's no doubt that he will always be welcomed at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
