Among the record 10 Texas A&M players selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, veteran defensive tackle Albert Regis, who started at nose tackle for the Aggies during his final two seasons, was surprisingly selected in the third round by the Jacksonville Jaguars, who shockingly selected Aggie tight end Nate Boerkirch in the second round after just one season in College Station.
Standing 6'1" and nearly 300 pounds, Albert Regis is one of the more athletic defensive linemen to play for the Aggies over the last decade, but entered each of his last two seasons flying under the radar until his 2025 senior season, finishing the year with a career-high 49 tackles, 3 pass deflections, 2 sacks, and 3 tackles for loss, and ended his illustrious A&M career with 149 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 10 pass deflections.
This weekend, Regis made his first appearance with the Jaguars during his limited snap allotment, recording his first career sack after chasing down quarterback Zach Wilson, showing off his impressive speed-to-power skill set, and finishing the job once he made his way to the backfield. Regis' high motor and physicality put him in line to contend for the starting defensive tackle during his second season in 2027.
This season, Regis will more than likely start as the primary backup to DaVon Hamilton, who signed a massive extension with the Jaguars before the 2024 season. With two more preseason games, Regis has plenty of chances to shine and continue impressing the coaching staff ahead of his 2026 rookie season.
