The Washington Huskies brought in an impressive crop of defensive backs in the 2026 class, headlined by a trio of four-star recruits, and it's already paying dividends for Jedd Fisch's coaching staff. With sophomore cornerback Dylan Robinson limited in fall camp, Jeron Jones has assumed a major role with the first-team defense. During the team's first scrimmage on Saturday, he lined up on the outside and made his presence felt right away. On the first snap of the evening, the 5-foot-11, 180-pound cornerback made a perfectly timed break to step in front of a ball intended for wide receiver Rashid Williams and showed off his sticky ability in coverage and athleticism throughout the practice, which has stood out in a big way for Fisch.

It doesn’t stick with him at all. He’s getting stronger. He’s gained, I think, 15 pounds since he’s been here, so being in the weight room has made a difference for him." After spending the majority of spring practice working in the nickel, Jones has spent the majority of the fall on the outside and has displayed the technical skills, versatility, and knowledge of the playbook needed to earn a spot on the depth chart for defensive coordinator Ryan Walters ahead of his first season in the Big Ten. “We’re going to continue to build him up, because I think in the spring he was playing mostly nickel," Fisch continued. "With Dylan being down for fall camp, now we’ve gotten to see Jeron out there at the corner spot.
