Coming to bat in only his second Test, Tanzid Hassan continued to deliver on the pitch and struck a masterful century off 197 balls before Nathan Lyon finally sent him back to the dressing room. But by then the damage had already been done. T

Bangladesh were already 30 runs clear of Australia's 198, and Hassan had just become not just the first Bangladeshi Test centurion to score a century in the Land Down Under but the first batter from his side to ever get past 100 in Australia.

Hasan joins a very elite club of batters

With his maiden century, Hasan has now become one of the only four batters to ever score a century against the mighty Aussies. Mohammad Ashraful was the first to reach this club way back in 2005 when he scored a brilliant 100* against a Ricky Ponting-led side and helped Bangladesh achieve a rare five-wicket victory over the Kangaroos.

He was soon joined by Sharier Nafees, who became the first Bangladeshi batter to get a century against Australia in Tests with a 138 in the 1st Test of the 2006 Australia tour of Bangladesh. Former Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim became the third and last man to get to three figures against the Aussies back during the 2019 World Cup.

Now with Hasan getting his own century, that too against a pace battery that features the likes of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc in away conditions, we might very well be looking at the next great batter from Bangladesh.
