George Pickens entered last season as one of the NFL's most talked-about breakout candidates after making the move from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Dallas Cowboys' high-powered offense. With Dallas featuring one of the league's most talented receiving duos in Pickens and CeeDee Lamb, expectations quickly rose for what they could accomplish together. Lamb was asked during Saturday's preseason broadcast what he believes he and Pickens are capable of becoming in 2026, and he didn't hesitate with his response. “The best ever,” Lamb said. Pickens certainly backed up the offseason hype with the finest campaign of his NFL career. He finished last year with 1,429 receiving yards and nine touchdowns, establishing himself as one of the league's premier playmakers and giving Dallas another dangerous weapon alongside Lamb. While Pickens enjoyed a career-best season, Lamb's production dipped slightly compared to his usual elite standards. He finished with 75 receptions for 1,077 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games, with much of the decline attributed to a high-ankle sprain. Lamb also hopes his partnership with Pickens extends beyond the upcoming season, although the decision ultimately rests with the Cowboys' front office. Pickens is currently playing the 2026 campaign under a fully guaranteed $27.3 million franchise tag after he and the team failed to agree on a long-term contract before the deadline. Speaking to Yahoo Sports on Aug. 10, Lamb expressed confidence that the two sides can eventually find common ground. “I’m sure we can make a way,” Lamb said via Yahoo Sports on August 10. “I know it’s going to be a little crazy, but I know we can make a way for this one.” As Lamb prepares for his seventh NFL season, his goals remain to help the Cowboys win and return to the elite standard he has set throughout his career.
