Hampshire Women confirmed on August 18, 2026 that Georgia Adams has put pen to paper on a fresh two-year deal, tying the 32-year-old captain to Utilita Bowl through the end of the 2028 season. The agreement ensures the Southern Vipers retain their most experienced player and on-field leader for the next phase of the club's development.

Adams is the Vipers' record run-scorer and most-capped player, having accumulated in excess of 4,000 runs for the club since first appearing in the 2016 Women's Cricket Super League. She has also claimed 156 wickets in Southern Vipers colours, underlining her value as a genuine match-winner in both disciplines.

"I absolutely love playing my cricket at Hampshire and Utilita Bowl; this club is practically my home. As a club, we have a great record in both formats of the game along with a reputation of developing players for both club and country. I'm delighted I can continue my career with Hampshire as we look to reach another 50-over final on our home ground come September," Adams said in an official statement.

What form has Adams shown ahead of the new contract?

The timing of the announcement follows a productive summer for Adams. She was named Player of the Match in the Hundred final victory over Sunrisers Leeds on Sunday with figures of 2 for 9. Earlier in the season, she returned bowling figures of 4-16 against The Blaze, and she struck an unbeaten century against Surrey in the Women's One-Day Cup semi-final at Utilita Bowl the previous season. Six trophies have arrived during her time with the Southern Vipers, a record that reflects both her personal contribution and the club's consistent standing in the women's domestic game.

"Georgia is the cornerstone of women’s cricket here at Utilita Bowl, and we are delighted she will remain here for at least another two seasons. She is our leader, both on and off the field, and has showcased her match-winning ability on numerous occasions with bat and ball for the club. She is a vital part of our plans for the next phase of our journey, and we look forward to seeing her continue to flourish here at Utilita Bowl," Hampshire’s regional director of women’s cricket, Adam Carty, said.

What is the broader playing record Adams brings to the extended deal?

Adams started out at Sussex, the county where her father Chris built a career spanning two decades, before moving to Hampshire and becoming the defining figure in the Southern Vipers setup. Her domestic portfolio extends well beyond county cricket. She has lifted The Hundred title on three occasions, doing so with Oval Invincibles, Southern Brave and Trent Rockets respectively.

Overseas, she claimed the Women's Big Bash League with Adelaide Strikers in 2023 and was part of the New South Wales side that secured the Women's National Cricket League title in 2025. Her international recognition arrived when she represented England for the first time in 2024, appearing against Ireland in her debut series.
