Recruiting in the Peach State isn’t easy when a primary competitor is the Georgia Bulldogs, but Georgia Tech has made its presence felt at times under head coach Brent Key. The Yellow Jackets have done well in the 2027 cycle.
As of Aug. 18, Georgia Tech has 26 commits in its 2027 class. That haul ranks 26th nationally, according to the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. That’s also good for 5th in the ACC, ahead of Florida State, Louisville, North Carolina, NC State, Pitt and others.

The Yellow Jackets finished at No. 38 in the team rankings last cycle, but they did ink a top-25 class in the 2025 cycle. Key and Co. would love to crack that top 25 once more this winter, though a majority of the class has already been put together.
As previously mentioned, in-state recruiting remains a priority for GT. Of the 26 commits in the class, 14 will play their senior seasons in Georgia. That includes five of the nine four-stars that headline the pledge list coming out of the summer.
The top-ranked commit is Douglasville (Ga.) Douglas County four-star offensive tackle Joshua Sam-Epelle. The top-15 tackle pledged on June 19 and was one of a whopping 23 commitments for the ACC program that month. Not many, if any programs stocked up more during official visit season than Georgia Tech.
Delray Beach (Fla.) West Boca Raton four-star defensive lineman Jamar Thompson, Douglas County four-star EDGE Justin Weeks, Athens (Ga.) Christian four-star EDGE Success Nwabude, Montgomery (Ala.) Academy four-star EDGE Braden Gordon and Sarasota (Fla.) Palmetto four-star DL Maleek Lee form an impressive bunch on the defensive front.
Kennesaw (Ga.) Kell four-star running back Moonie Gipson has one of the best names in the entire cycle and he helped kickstart some recruiting momentum with a commitment at the beginning of May. He’s now the No. 22 RB in the nation heading into his senior year.
