New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh has provided a fitness update on running back Cam Skattebo.
Skattebo was enjoying an impressive rookie season until he suffered a broken ankle against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8.
The 24-year-old has now returned from injury and played in the Giants’ first preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings.
However, NFL fans were concerned that Skattebo was no longer the same player after some awkward practice footage emerged.
Harbaugh has shared his verdict on the Giants running back’s fitness ahead of the 2026 season.

John Harbaugh gives Cam Skattebo fitness update
Giants fans were worried after Cam Skattebo looked unconvincing in a clip of him running a simple route in preseason training.
Many assumed his foot slipped due to the lingering effects of his season-ending injury, but that may have been an overreaction.
Skattebo played in the Giants’ preseason game against the Vikings and had four carries for 19 yards – a 4.8-yard average.
John Harbaugh explained in his latest press conference that Skattebo showed encouraging signs in his performance.
However, Harbaugh also recognised that the running back is not 100 percent fit and it will take him time to return to his best.
He said, “I got to see him for the first time in a game, and I don’t think he’s 100%. He would say he’s not, but I got to see what we know about him already.
“I saw the foot quickness, the feel for the game, the explosiveness. It was good to watch and good for me to see that.”
If Skattebo can stay healthy and continue playing as he did last season, the Giants could have a much-improved offense.
