The Pittsburgh Steelers gave DK Metcalf $132 million after acquiring him from the Seattle Seahawks. One year later, Seattle has a Super Bowl ring, and Seahawks fans have discovered a very convenient new hobby: checking on their former receiver.

Metcalf fired back at an Instagram critic who asked whether the grass was still greener in Pittsburgh. The response was sharp enough to send screenshots flying across social media and reopen every argument surrounding his exit from Seattle.

DK Metcalf Fires Back at Seahawks Critic

A fan commented, “Is the grass still greener over there DK?” under one of Metcalf’s Instagram posts.

Metcalf did not bother with a football answer.

“Yo momma and daddy related?” he replied with a laughing emoji, according to aviral screenshot.

That comeback earned laughs, but plenty of Seahawks fans interpreted it as evidence that the criticism had landed.

“Bro, I really hated when we traded him, but the more time goes on, the more I’m glad we got rid of him,” one fanwrote on X.

One fan said, “DK is a human like freak nature but he’s mentally soft everyone in the league knows it even Kobe would do this to him.”

Others went straight for the obvious scoreboard material. One fanwrote on X, “he knows he ain’t gettin no ring anytime soon,” while another Steelers supporter joked that “the grass will never be greener if you play for the Steelers, and I’m a fan.”

One Seahawks fan added, “I regret buying his jersey so much.”

Another said, “What’s wild is that, him being traded was necessary sacrifice for the chip. Not because the return, but for the culture MM (Mike Macdonald) was trying to install.”

Another Seahawks fan wrote, “I’m so happy we traded him 😂. Does JSN have the season he did? And do we get Shaheed?”

Seattle fans have unusually strong ammunition here. Metcalf made atrade request after the 2024 season, and the Seahawks eventually sent him to Pittsburgh for a package headlined by the No. 52 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Steelers then signed Metcalf to a four-year, $132 million extension with $60 million guaranteed. Spotrac lists thecontract details at an average of $33 million annually.

Seahawks Fans Have the Ultimate Retort After Super Bowl Win

Metcalf’s first Pittsburgh season was productive, but not spectacular by his standards. He caught 59 passes for 850 yards and six touchdowns in 15 regular-season games.

According to PFN’s WR Impact Metric, he posted an impact score of 79.7, ranking 14th in the league.

Seattle, meanwhile, made the kind of follow-up that can make any trade debate unbearable for years. They beat the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl LX, claiming the franchise’s second championship.

Seattle changed plenty around Metcalf, including its quarterback situation and the elevation of Jaxon Smith-Njigba into the clear centerpiece of the passing attack.

Still, fans are allowed to enjoy the timing.

Metcalf spent six seasons in Seattle, making two Pro Bowls and recording 6,324 receiving yards before requesting a change of scenery. Pittsburgh paid handsomely to make him a centerpiece of its offense.

The grass question may be impossible to settle after one season. The ring count since the trade is considerably easier.
