Regardless of the stats or numbers, Chase DeLauter's rookie season has been a success from the standpoint that the Cleveland Guardians outfielder has remained on the field, for the most part. DeLauter's injury history was always a concern for the highly-touted prospect as he made his way through Cleveland's farm system. However, the 24-year-old has only been on the injured list once and missed just a week's worth of games, which came after he collided with the wall in right field. Unfortunately, DeLauter came out of the Guardians' game on Sunday early, leaving many speculating whether the rookie's mostly healthy season was up in the air. The team later announced that DeLauter left the game with "mild left hamstring tightness," and Cleveland's skipper provided a little bit more clarity during his postgame availability. "He felt it his last sprint right before the game. He kind of felt a little cramping sensation in his hamstring, and it just kind of didn't quite loosen up," said manager Stephen Vogt. "He's got some tightness in the hamstring, and we just felt, let's not risk this thing. Let's get him off his feet. Just out of an abundance of caution, got him out of there." Mandatory Credit: Ken Blaze-Imagn Images Reading between the lines, Vogt does appear overly concerned about the injury and its potential to affect DeLauter for the rest of the season. That said, taking the rookie out of the game was clearly the right decision given how much time he missed at the Minor League level with so many other injuries. Not having DeLauter in the lineup for one game to ensure he's healthy for the rest of the season is paramount to the team's success and its hopeful September playoff run.  DeLauter has been sensational for the Guardians when he's been on the field, and the team truly can't ask any more of the 24-year-old in his rookie season. He's consistently been the team's best offensive player in 2026, logging a .800 OPS with 13 home runs and 22 doubles. Before exiting the game, DeLauter was riding a 13-game on-base streak, which was the longest active on the team.  Hopefully, with DeLauter out of the game early on Sunday and Monday off, he'll be ready to go when the Guardians open their three-game series with the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday evening at Progressive Field.
