Eintracht Frankfurt suffered a 7-0 defeat at Brentford FC in what was their final pre-season friendly of the summer.

Early setbacks

Adi Hütter’s side conceded twice within the opening quarter of an hour in front of 13,752 spectators at the Brentford Community Stadium, with Kevin Schade (2’) and Mamadou Sangaré on target for the hosts (12’).

The Eagles’ first attempt at Caoimhín Kelleher’s goal came in the 25th minute, but Ritsu Doan’s effort flew over the bar. Brentford almost extended their lead immediately after that, only for Schade to miss the target following a low cross. Captain Robin Koch produced a last-ditch block on the half-hour mark to keep out Dango Ouattara and Igor Thiago, with goalkeeper Kaua Santos already beaten.

Brentford, who finished ninth in the English Premier League last season, made it 3-0 just before the interval when Schade won possession on the edge of the Eintracht box and played a square pass past Santos and into the path of Thiago, who was left with a simple tap-in (41’).

Koch taken off injured

A frustrating first 45 minutes was compounded by an injury to Koch, who was replaced at centre-back Jeremiaha Maluze on the stroke of half-time (45’).

Eintracht made two changes at the break, with Ayoube Amaimouni coming on for Doan on the wing, and Arthur Theate taking Otávio’s place at centre-back. However, The Bees remained the dominant side and they went 4-0 up just six minutes into the second half when Ouattara smashed the ball into the net following a mazy run.

Can Uzun drew a save from Brentford’s goalkeeper a short while later with a curling effort (56’), but it was the home team who found the net again moments later through Keane Lewis-Potter’s strike into the far corner (57’).

Brentford soon added two more goals in quick succession, with Thiago (68’) and Schade (70’) each grabbing their second of the game to make the final score 7-0.

Eintracht’s first competitive fixture of 2026/27 is on Friday 21 August against SC St. Tönis 1911/20 in the first round of the DFB Cup.
