MITCHELL, S.D. (KELO) — The Harrisburg Woodies and the Alexandria Angels emerged victorious in the Class ‘A’ and ‘B’ amateur baseball state championships on Sunday at Cadwell Park.
The Woodies pulled off the 3-1 win over the Renner Monarchs in the Class ‘A’ title game. Harrisburg scored early to jump out to a 3-0 lead through the second inning. The Monarchs got in the board in the ninth but couldn’t muster up enough offense to get past Tanner Brown on the mound.
The Angels dominated in a 12-2 run rule victory over the Clark Traders for the Class ‘B’ trophy. The Halos wasted no time, putting up nine runs in the first half-inning to catapult to the lead. The Traders couldn’t generate any more offense than the two runs to keep the game alive past the seventh inning.
These state tournament wins are Harrisburg’s second-consecutive Class ‘A’ title and Alexandria’s first Class ‘B’ championship since 2020.
