Healy and O'Sullivan finish in top eight of 1500m final

Healy finished fifth with a time of 4:10.76, while O'Sullivan registered 4:11.72 in eighth. Great Britian's Georgia Hunter-Bell won gold with Poland's Klaudia Kazimierska claiming silver and Portugal's Patricia Silva completing the podium. Ireland have won four medals at the European Athletics Championships after Kate O'Connor won the heptathlon, Mark English claimed gold in the 800m, Rhasidat Adeleke secured silver in the 200m and Andrew Coscoran won bronze in the 1500m. "I think fifth is fine," Healy told RTE after the 1500m final. "I pretty much knew what I wanted to do there, but there was a bit of a gap, I just wasn't quite in the right spot to get in that. I really wanted to commit at 300 [metres] and I think I did. "The other girls were really quick today, and I've done a lot this week. I'm definitely not satisfied, but fourth in the 5000m and fifth in the 1500m is decent. A medal would have been better." Earlier on Sunday, Fionnuala McCormack had to withdraw from the women's marathon.
