Heavyweight sophomores will collide at Meta APEX. AJ Frye and RJ Harris are set to throw down Oct. 10 at UFC Fight Night 290 in Las Vegas. Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the booking but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. Frye (6-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) earned a UFC contract after beating UFC alumnus Justin Frazier on the Arkansas regional scene. He debuted in December and lost a unanimous decision to Guilherme Pat. After that, Frye was booked against Max Gimenis and Alvin Hines, but was forced to withdraw from each. Frye is currently under the wing of former UFC middleweight contender Derek Brunson. Harris (6-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) made his promotional debut July 18 when he emphatically knocked out Alvin Hines with a brutal uppercut and follow-up punches. The bout only lasted 100 seconds and was Harris' fifth finish in six fights. The UFC Vegas 122 lineup includes:
Otari Tanzilovi vs. Malcolm Wellmaker Matheus Camilo vs. Jai Herbert Artur Minev vs. Francisco Prado Alice Pereira vs. Darya Zheleznyakova Felipe Franco vs. Alexander Poppeck Melissa Gatto vs. Ernesta Kareckaite Gerald Meerschaert vs. Julius Walker AJ Frye vs. RJ Harris
