BELLBROOK — The Bellbrook High School football team has a chip on its shoulder.

A year ago, the Golden Eagles saw their Southwestern Buckeye League championship streak end after five seasons — a loss that fueled them in the offseason.

“It’s going to serve this team a lot,” said Bellbrook coach Jeff Jenkins. “We got knocked down. We’ve got to get back up, work harder and hopefully be in the hunt for another championship.”

With 20 seniors and a plethora of returning talent, the Golden Eagles are ready to make another run at a SWBL Southwestern title and a Division III regional title. The current senior class were sophomores in 2024 when the program fell to London in the D-III, Region 12 championship game.

“They’re very experienced,” Jenkins said. “Our schedule is loaded and we’re really jelling right now. We’re looking to take that next step as a program.”

The Eagles finished 6-5 last year, falling to Franklin in Week 7 to fall to 3-4. They won three straight games to end the season, qualifying for the D-III, Region 12 playoffs. They fell to Alter in a first round game.

“We weren’t really happy with a 6-5 season (in 2025) — and I love that’s where our standard is at,” Jenkins said. “We want to be a championship football team in all things we do. I’m really excited about the mindset of our team.

“We’re fast, physical football team,” Jenkins said. “If we stay together, we can do some serious damage this year.”

Bellbrook won five straight SWBL division titles from 2020 through 2024. They haven’t had a losing season since 2013.

The goal, said senior running back/free safety Jack Kosins, is to climb back atop the SWBL and make a deep playoff run. Kosins led the team with 90 tackles, including nine tackles for loss.

“It’s definitely a different demeanor this year,” Kosins said. “We’re flying around on defense and we’ve got a big offensive line for me to run behind. It’s a different type of energy. Last year motivated us a lot.”
