The Homestead-Miami Speedway will return as the site for NASCAR’s championship weekend in 2027. In the latest addition to the 2027 schedule, the track announced on Tuesday it will host the sport’s three top touring series championship races from Nov. 12-14.
Homestead-Miami Speedway was formerly the final race of the NASCAR season for 18 straight years (2002-2019). After Phoenix Raceway took over as the season finale from 2020-2025, Homestead returned to the final race slot ahead of this season.
In addition to returning as the final race of the year, the track will undergo a major renovation soon.
Announced NASCAR dates for Homestead 2027
The news of Homestead Miami-Speedway’s announced dates broke on Tuesday. Homestead’s social media team announced that Nov. 12-14 will be the weekend the sport crowns the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, and Cup Series champions.

Homestead-Miami Speedway returns championship weekend this year with an extra kick. Jordan Bianchi, NASCAR writer for The Athletic, reported that the Florida track will have a huge renovation done prior to this year’s on-track action.
“NASCAR announces Miami-Homestead Speedway will [host] l the 2027 championship weekend for all three of its national series. Additionally, the facility will undergo $20 million in renovations that are scheduled to be completed prior to this year’s championship weekend,” Bianchi wrote via X.
Since losing the championship weekend spot after 2019, Homestead-Miami has bounced around the NASCAR schedule. In 2020, the Cup Series raced on June 14, but the original date was scheduled for mid-March prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2021 season saw Homestead-Miami as the third race of the Cup Series season, a race won by William Byron. Homestead was then moved to mid-October as a playoff race from 2022-2024.
Last year, the Cup Series returned to the March date for Homestead, a race that saw Kyle Larson take the checkered flag.
NASCAR Cup Series heats up ahead of The Chase
Homestead-Miami Speedway will be where the upcoming 10-race Chase concludes, with one driver hoisting the championship trophy on the frontstretch of the 1.5-mile track.
With two races remaining until The Chase, seven drivers have clinched a spot for a chance to win a championship. Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, Ty Gibbs, Tyler Reddick, Chase Briscoe, Chase Elliott, and Christopher Bell have all clinched respective Chase berths.
Nine spots remain in the balance, currently held by Kyle Larson, Joey Logano, Chris Buescher, Carson Hocevar, William Byron, Daniel Suarez, Bubba Wallace, Austin Cindric, and Shane van Gisbergen, respectively.
Ryan Preece is currently the first driver below the cut line in 17th position, 50 points behind van Gisbergen. The Cup Series heads to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway this Sunday, then wraps up the regular season at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, August 29.
