AUBURN — More than midway through its first preseason under head coach Alex Golesh, Auburn football's health sits in a relatively solid circumstance following its first scrimmage since the spring on Friday, Aug. 14. While Friday's scrimmage was closed to the public and media, Golesh provided updates on which Tigers were sidelined for the 115-play event, as well as some were able to participate despite ongoing health concerns. Here's a look at where Auburn's health stands at Week 2 of fall camp comes to a close. Stanton Ramil headlines Auburn football's healthy participants in latest scrimmage Ramil, who was a non-participant in Auburn practice at least once this past week, played the entirety of Friday's scrimmage, Golesh said. "Since we brought him back, he's been on a snap count, and today, went the whole time, which was really the first time for him in this offense to play just over a half, maybe two-and-a-half quarters," Golesh said. "He needed it purely from an operating standpoint." Safety Kaleb Harris, who has been limited or absent in recent practices, was also a full participant. Golesh also said running back Bryson Washington, who was hampered with injuries in the spring, got work with Auburn's first-team offense. "I thought Bryson did some good things," Golesh said. "I thought he got worn out, which we needed him to and operate worn out. We'll be in a good spot there." Few surprises among Auburn football's scrimmage holdouts Safety Sylvester Smith-Reed remained in non-contact protocol Friday, Golesh said, though he was a participant. "He's not supposed to tackle anybody," Golesh said of Smith-Reed. "He tackled the first play, and then I had to remind him to stop tackling people." Golesh did add that Auburn expected Smith-Reed to be fully cleared for its next scrimmage. Five other players — running back Nykahi Davenport, wide receiver Christian Neptune, tight ends Hunter Herring and Jonathan Echols, and safety An'Quon Fegans — were all held out of Friday's scrimmage. Fegans is expected to be back at full strength by Sunday, Golesh said. Adam Cole is the Auburn athletics beat writer for the Montgomery Advertiser.
