Juventus and Aston Villa held fresh talks to reach an agreement for the signing of Emi Martinez, but once again they could not find common ground. That has prompted the Bianconeri to move for Guglielmo Vicario as they continue their search for a new number one.
Juventus believe Martinez is good enough for the role and regard him as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, as he demonstrated during another World Cup final. Luciano Spalletti would also love to work with the Argentinian in Turin, and Juventus have made another attempt to give their manager one of the players he requested during this transfer window.
Martinez Deal Hits Another Obstacle
However, the Bianconeri have again failed to reach an agreement, with the main issue understood to be the difference between Aston Villa’s asking price and the amount Juventus are prepared to pay. Despite their strong interest in Martinez, the two clubs have been unable to find a compromise.
Juventus have continued trying to negotiate a deal, but Villa have remained firm over their valuation of the World Cup winner. The English club have no intention of reducing their demands, leaving the Bianconeri facing another setback in their pursuit of the goalkeeper.
The situation has now encouraged Juventus to look elsewhere, with Vicario becoming their preferred alternative. The Italian goalkeeper has been on their radar and could provide the solution they need as the new season approaches.
Aston Villa Reject Juventus Proposal
As reported by Tuttojuve, Aston Villa want Juventus to pay a fixed fee of 10m euros before any additional add-ons are considered. Juventus, however, were prepared to pay 7m euros plus 3m euros in add-ons, which would have taken the total value of the agreement to 10m euros.
That proposal fell short of Villa’s demands, as the club had no plans to offer Juventus a discount. The difference between the two offers has therefore caused the deal to collapse once again, despite Martinez being keen on the transfer.
For Juventus, the failure to agree terms means they must now focus on Vicario and attempt to secure his arrival. The Bianconeri still need a new goalkeeper, and their latest setback in negotiations with Villa has made finding an alternative increasingly urgent.
