COLUMBIA — If South Carolina football quarterback LaNorris Sellers has a good season in 2026, it's very likely he has thrown his last pass as a Gamecock to his younger brother Jayden Sellers. The wide receiver and quarterback duo showed flashes of great chemistry last season, but South Carolina announced Aug. 16 that Jayden Sellers is out for the year with a lower leg injury. LaNorris Sellers is in his third year as the starter, fourth in the program and with the new eligibility model he can return next season. But his sights are likely still set on the NFL, which means by the time his brother returns, he'll be gone. LaNorris Sellers was asked Aug. 18 about possibly not playing again with his brother at South Carolina. "Taking advantage of the time we had together," LaNorris Sellers said. "We practiced together, we played together in high school. We don't know what's going to happen this season, so we never know. "I've had the opportunity to play college ball with him. We achieved our dreams of playing in the SEC so that's all we'll be thankful for now. Whatever else comes, that comes."

The two played for South Florence High School, just under 90 miles away from Williams-Brice Stadium. Jayden Sellers played in seven games as a freshman last season, logging 22 catches for 337 yards and one touchdown, which went for 75 yards against Coastal Carolina. "Yeah it sucks, it's unfortunate," LaNorris Sellers said. "I just told him to stay positive, he knows if he needs anything he can talk to me, but he can also talk to everyone on the team." South Carolina also announced that wide receiver Jayden Gibson, a transfer from Oklahoma, will miss the season with a lower leg injury. Coach Shane Beamer said both were non-contact injuries and neither of them got touched. Gibson's injury occurred in practice last week. Jayden Sellers was injured in the scrimmage on Aug. 15. Depth in the receiving room gives the Gamecocks breathing room at the moment. Nyck Harbor, a 6-foot-5 track star, is returning after leading the team in receiving yards last year and will have transfers in Nitro Tuggle and DJ Black alongside him, in addition to plenty of underclassman options. "It's a good to have a room like that where pretty much anyone can go at any time," LaNorris Sellers said. "It's next man mentality, when one man goes down you still have to play football."
