Manchester United heads to Wroclaw on Saturday as it takes on AC Milan in the final friendly test of its pre-season schedule. The Red Devils have gone undefeated in five since losing their first warm-up fixture against Wrexham and most recently defeated Leeds United via penalties on Wednesday after a 1-1 draw at the end of 90 minutes.
Joshua Zirkzee scored for the second time in pre-season as United ended level in Dublin before going on to triumph in the shootout. It was the second straight 1-1 draw for Michael Carrick’s men after seeing out an identical result against Paris Saint-Germain several days’ prior, except that clash didn’t go to spot-kicks.
The Rossoneri, meanwhile, have had a week’s rest since they suffered a 3-0 friendly defeat to Chelsea and will hope to avoid more disappointment against Premier League opposition. In fact, Milan’s only win of pre-season thus far remains the team’s victory over their own youth side back in mid-July.
This will be the first time these clubs have faced off since the last 16 of the 2020/21 Europa League when United emerged as a 2-1 victor over two legs. Carrick will seek an even more commanding display as he aims to end pre-season in top form, while Milan is even more desperate for a result just a week out from its Serie A opener against Torino.
