The Detroit Lions preseason is set to begin.
\nThe Lions face the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday, Aug. 13, in a preseason game at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. ET and will air on the Lions TV Network (Fox 2 in Detroit) with streaming available on Fubo.
\nLions fans shouldn't expect many starters to play in the first preseason game, with coach Dan Campbell already ruling out starting quarterback Jared Goff among others. That means a lot of playing time for undrafted rookie Luke Altmyer and new backup quarterback Joshua Dobbs, who signed with the team after Teddy Bridgewater's sudden retirement.

\nThe Lions have several positional questions entering the preseason, most notably on defense, where starting safeties Kerby Joseph and Brian Branch are not expected to be ready for Week 1. The Lions offense also has an opening at center after starter Cade Mays suffered a wrist injury, with backup Seth McLaughlin taking the starting snaps during practice despite never having played in an NFL game.
