PolicyDrift‘I Want To Make A Statement’ – Wanchainoi Embraces Main Event Spotlight Against Petnamkhong At The Inner Circle 26

Wanchainoi Pongsuphan PK has worn many hats during his highly unusual journey to the global stage, yet nothing could have prepared him for the spotlight that awaits at The Inner Circle 26.

The Thai heavy-hitter headlines the strawweight Muay Thai main event against relentless Laotian-Thai pressure fighter Petnamkhong Sor Maneekhot, going down live in Asia primetime this Friday, August 14, exclusively for members at live.onefc.com.

Wanchainoi has experienced three vastly different lives before the age of 26. Boasting an astonishing 101 career victories, the credentialed Thai striker took a temporary hiatus from the ring to complete his military service and even briefly performed as a Thai pop sensation.

But a warrior’s instinct is a powerful thing. When ONE opened its doors, the Nakhon Phanom native made absolutely sure he capitalized, rattling off a flawless three-bout winning streak highlighted by back-to-back stoppage victories.

The most recent, a scintillating 54-second knockout of Dokmaipa Santiubon at ONE Friday Fights 160 this past June, earned him top billing as the marquee attraction that he still cannot believe is his.

The PK Saenchai Muaythaigym representative said:

“I’m thrilled. Honestly, I never expected to be headlining the card as the main event.

“It comes down to my determination, passion, and the dream of competing on this stage. Once I got the opportunity, I knew I had to give it my all and constantly push myself to evolve.”

Still, the physical reality of this matchup demands respect. Petnamkhong’s height and reach present a specific tactical challenge, and the 22-year-old Laotian is equipped to maximize every inch of those advantages.

In response, Wanchainoi has deconstructed the puzzle his rangy rival presents and engineered a game plan designed to breach that space.

He said:

“His biggest advantage is definitely his height — that’s the main puzzle I have to solve for this fight. As for his weapons, I particularly have to watch out for his flying knees.

“I plan to press forward and close the distance. I can’t stay on the outside and let him utilize his reach. The strategy is to attack the body, digging shots into his midsection and midriff and chopping down his legs with heavy low kicks.”

Despite carrying genuine fight-ending power, Wanchainoi understands that raw aggression alone means nothing without the patience and intelligence to see a plan through.

He approaches this matchup with the cerebral composure of a fighter who has learned deeply from his most celebrated triumphs and heartbreaking defeats.

Wanchainoi continued:

“From what I’ve analyzed, his weaknesses seem to be his body, midsection, and legs. On fight night, it will come down to timing and opportunism. I can’t guarantee a knockout because he is a very skilled fighter himself.”

Wanchainoi Targets Nadaka And A Shot At The Division’s Summit

While beating Petnamkhong Sor Maneekhot is the immediate mission, it is the first step toward a far greater ambition for Wanchainoi Pongsuphan PK.

That burning dream has a specific name attached to it. Reigning ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Nadaka is regarded as one of the finest pound-for-pound strikers of his generation, and the prospect of one day sharing the ring with him represents the ultimate proving ground Wanchainoi craves.

This Friday is where that ambition takes its first step, with a life-changing US$100,000 contract and a place among the division’s elite in his sights.

He said:

“I want to make a statement to the boss (ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong). If I win impressively, I hope to get a shot at proving myself on the global stage. And yes, stepping into the ring with Nadaka is definitely part of that vision.”

There is, however, another side to Wanchainoi. His personality and natural showmanship are just as much a part of his identity as his lethal striking skills. Should he extend his winning streak to four, the former pop star is willing to revisit those roots.

Ready to deliver an unforgettable performance both during and after the battle, Wanchainoi has something special waiting for the Lumpinee Stadium crowd.

He teased:

“I’ve prepared a song to sing after a win for three fights in a row now, but they still haven’t handed me the mic!”
