Harbhajan Singh has expressed his willingness to take on administrative roles within Indian cricket if the opportunity arises. The former India spinner indicated that he would be open to serving the game in various capacities at the highest level of the sport's governance.

Harbhajan made clear that his ambition extends to multiple positions within the BCCI structure. He emphasised that his primary motivation is to contribute meaningfully to Indian cricket rather than accumulate titles or positions.

"It is not like I want to hold all three roles in the future, but I believe whatever is in my destiny, I will get it. If I ever get a chance to hold any such role, where I can do something for Indian cricket, I will be very, very happy to do it. It is my wish that I could somehow give something back to this game that has given me a lot," Harbhajan said.

Roles of interest to the former spinner

The former left-arm spinner has already shown interest in coaching positions previously. In May 2024, he had hinted at the possibility of applying for the role of Team India's head coach when the BCCI officially invited applications for the position.

Harbhajan's statement reflects his desire to remain involved with Indian cricket beyond his playing career. His comments come as the BCCI continues to manage various administrative transitions and appointments across different roles.

"So, whether it be the role of BCCI President, selector, or head coach, I would love to be of any use to Indian cricket, I will be very happy to do it," Harbhajan said.

Additionally, Harbhajan was nominated by the Punjab Cricket Association to represent them at the BCCI Annual General Meeting scheduled for September 28, 2025, indicating his growing involvement in cricket administration.

Both Gautam Gambhir and Ajit Agarkar are contracted with the BCCI until the end of the 2027 ODI World Cup, with Agarkar having recently received an extension. Meanwhile, the name of Indian Test great VVS Laxman has been strongly linked with a potential role as the BCCI Director of Cricket. Laxman currently serves as the Head of Cricket at the BCCI Centre of Excellence.
