Former NBA players Enes Kanter and Royce White declared for the 2027 WNBA Draft recently amid the ongoing debate around trans athletes in the league.

The topic heated up after Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham spoke out about ‘biological males’ competing in the sport.

Following their declarations for the draft, the reaction to Kanter and White has been mixed.

Joe Rogan called the former ‘very smart’ during a recent episode of his podcast, while Kanter himself has now conducted a fresh interview about competing in the WNBA, in which he mentions playing alongside Caitlin Clark.

Enes Kanter comments on playing with Caitlin Clark

The ex-NBA player recently sat down to speak to America First Policy Institute and said: “It’s gonna be fun, especially if I get drafted by a team that like, maybe a Indiana.”

Bruce Pearl, who was interviewing Kanter, then responded: “Caitlin’s not passing you the ball.”

Kanter replied to that by saying: “Listen, me and Caitlin will be modern Kobe and Shaq. I’m telling you.”

Pearl responded: “That’s a good squad [Fever]. Do you think you can make that team?”

Kanter answered: “I’m just thinking about this scenario, right? We’re going down a lane and Caitlin just throwing a lob. I cut the lob and I’m just dunking the ball.”

While the two former NBA players are causing a lot of chatter after their recent declarations, it has been claimed that the WNBA is not taking Kanter and White’s declarations seriously.

Forbes’ women’s basketball insider Khristina Williams recently stated: “Per league source, the WNBA is not taking declarations by former NBA players for the ‘27 WNBA Draft seriously. Source called them attempts to ‘sow division and chaos’ by ‘bad-faith actors.’ Nothing is imminent; league will follow its process and not let outside noise dictate it.”
