Dave Portnoy has named his top 10 quarterbacks heading into the 2026 season with some controversial choices.
Patrick Mahomes is no longer the NFL’s undisputed best QB following the Kansas City Chiefs’ difficult year.
Meanwhile, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson are no longer considered the other obvious names on the Mount Rushmore.
Here is Portnoy’s full list, including a surprise ranking for Jayden Daniels, and how NFL fans have reacted online.

Dave Portnoy reveals his top 10 quarterbacks for 2026
Dave Portnoy ranked last season’s MVP, Matthew Stafford, as the league’s best quarterback ahead of Super Bowl runner-up Drake Maye.
Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes came next, with rising stars Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels also in the top six.
Joe Burrow ranked seventh, ahead of Super Bowl champions Jalen Hurts and Sam Darnold, with Jordan Love in 10th.
Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert and Dak Prescott all failed to make Portnoy’s top-10 quarterbacks list.
“Jayden Daniels above Joe Burrow and Sam Darnold is insanity,” an NFL fan replied, summarising the widespread shock at Daniels’ position.
“No way Drake is better than Josh. And I am not a Buffalo fan. I know you love your Patriots. I think Drake is top ten but you are crazy,” another suggested Portnoy was biased.
Meanwhile, one viewer argued that Mahomes should remain first given his playoff success.
“If you value playoff wins (as you say you do), Mahomes has to be first,” they commented.
Fans were also baffled at Prescott and Jackson’s exclusions: “Not having Dak Prescott in the top 10 is wild.”
“Where is Lamar Jackson at? Two-time MVP not in the top 10 is criminal.”
However, several X users did say that Portnoy assembled a decent list, with most of the top 10 in reasonable positions.
