With Anton Harrison three years into his rookie deal and set to get reps at left tackle this preseason, it seems like a good time to take a step back and evaluate the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 2023 first round pick. Each season, Harrison has noticeably improved as he’s coming off of his best season yet in 2025. In fact, despite Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence holding onto the ball longer than ever before, Harrison allowed just one sack, three QB hits, and 35 pressures last season. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< His pressure rate of 5.8% was right about league average, 43rd of the Top-92 offensive tackles. It was neck and neck with the Jaguars’ other tackle Cole Van Lanen, who finished 53rd with a 6.3% pressure rate allowed. Harrison’s pressure rate was right in line with his career average, but his sack rate ranked among the best in the NFL. In fact, it was ninth among those same 92 tackles. Keep in mind, Lawrence held the ball nearly half a second longer on average compared to 2023 and 2024. As mentioned, Harrison allowed just one sack on 608 pass-blocking snaps last season, a stark improvement from the four and five that he allowed in 2024 and 2023. He’s improved each season, just as he has in the run-game. [DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks] When Harrison came into the league, he was a bit raw in the run-blocking department. But, as a pro, Harrison’s shown growth each and every season, ranking as Pro Football Focus’ 51st highest graded tackle last season among the Top-92. While that doesn’t seem all too great, compare it to his 64th and 86th ranks from 2024 and 2023 and the improvement is obvious. He’s slowly but surely getting better and better as a run-blocker. With Van Lanen “physically unable to perform,” Harrison’s set to take snaps at left tackle this preseason. The Jaguars listed him as the “starter” in their first unofficial depth chart. [SIGN UP: Action News Jax Daily Headlines Newsletter] Even if Harrison never does turn into the Jaguars’ long term answer at the position, the reps could prove invaluable. This staff has proven just how much they cherish versatility. He’s certainly got experience at the position. Some might even say it’s his more natural position as Harrison played over 1,700 snaps at left tackle in college. In his final season, he allowed just nine pressures and one sack on 474 pass-block snaps. Who knows, the experience could pay off if one day Harrison does turn out to be Trevor Lawrence’s blind side blocker of the future. And if not, the Jaguars have just another swiss army knife in Liam Coen’s tool chest of versatile linemen, alongside Van Lanen, Walker Little, Patrick Mekari, and Wyatt Milum.
