The Arizona Cardinals played and beat the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday evening.
By Saturday their top four draft picks were either done for the season or missing time in practice due to being banged up.
On Saturday morning Mike LaFleur told reporters that Jeremiyah Love’s ankle injury was a little more sore than they had anticipated and he will be out this week.

The fact that he cannot or will not comment on his status for week one is… something.
LaFleur earlier in the offseason had mentioned the need to get Love more work than expected in the preseason:

Staff has said all summer that it's important to get real, live reps for running backs in preseason. And Love has been working on being more decisive with his reads, so getting acclimated to NFL speed is important. https://t.co/NnaX2WSum3
I get the idea of it, but the reality is that the 14 touches for Love would put him on pace for 238 touches on the season, which would be 13 more than his career high at Notre Dame.
I think we all can agree we hope that Love is able to get past his 229 career high in touches he had at Notre Dame, but I would also argue that it wasn’t exactly necessary in week one of the preseason to get him on that pace. I understand it is a fine line, and it is easy to Monday Morning quarterback the situation, but the investment in Love is so high, don’t you really want him only going with as much as the first group as possible?
It is a rough subject, and I agree with getting Love the work, but the 14 touches seemed excessive at the time even.
Let’s just hope it is not a lingering issue, and a week off, rehab and rest get him ready for September 13th.
