Manchester City have confirmed Jeremy Doku has signed a new five-year contract.
The 24-year-old had entered the last two years of his previous deal, but the new contract has secured his future at the Etihad Stadium until 2031.
In a statement, Doku expressed his delight and said new manager Enzo Maresca’s style of play suits him.
He said: “I’m very excited to work with Enzo. I’ve been watching the games the friendly games in Korea and the style of play is very attractive. But already when he was in his previous clubs, I saw this style of play, and it really suits me with the wingers being very aggressive.”
Doku has significantly enhanced his reputation as one of best wide players in Europe since joining City from French club Stade Rennais in a £55 million deal in 2023.
He has scored 22 goals and provided 34 assists in 131 appearances across all competitions.
The Belgian’s efforts have helped City win a Premier League title, the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
The winger has a fine eye for goal and is praised for his blistering pace, brilliant close control and excellent dribbling skills.
Doku has earned 48 caps for Belgium and featured for his country at the recent World Cup.
He started four games at the marquee tournament, as the Red Devils reached the quarter-finals of the competition.
Man City have rewarded Doku for his impressive development since joining in 2023 by handing him a new contract.
He becomes the club’s fourth first-team player to sign an extension this summer after Phil Foden, Josko Gvardiol and Abdukodir Khusanov all agreed new terms.
