Jerry Jones has experienced plenty of memorable moments during his time as an NFL owner of the Dallas Cowboys, but there is one particular memory he would apparently love to recreate. While speaking at Cowboys training camp, Jones reflected on what it was like to celebrate a Super Bowl victory in Los Angeles—and made it clear he wouldn’t mind doing it again. Mandatory Credit: Tony Tomsic-USA TODAY NETWORK The Cowboys defeated the Buffalo Bills 52-17 in Super Bowl XXVII in the 1992-1993 season, a championship that was played at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Jones has vivid memories of that experience, including riding in a helicopter over Los Angeles on the way to the Super Bowl victory celebration. Now, more than three decades later, the Cowboys are hoping to put themselves in position to create another memorable championship moment. Dallas hasn’t reached the Super Bowl since winning it in the 1995-1996 season, and the franchise hasn’t even reached the NFC Championship Game since that 1995-1996 season. Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images It’s easy to understand why Jones is excited about the possibilities. The Cowboys made significant changes to their defense during the offseason, including hiring Christian Parker as defensive coordinator and using their first three draft picks on defensive players. Dallas is hoping those changes can transform a defense that allowed 511 points last season, the most in franchise history. Jones has also openly said he believes the Cowboys can contend for a Super Bowl in 2026. But getting there is a completely different challenge. For 30 years, Dallas has watched its Super Bowl drought grow while enduring some painfully disappointing playoff exits. The Cowboys haven’t even made it as far as the NFC Championship Game during that stretch. So while a return to Los Angeles for another Super Bowl celebration would certainly be a fantastic story for Jones, Dallas has an enormous amount of work to do first. The Cowboys may be improved on paper, but until they prove they can win when the stakes are highest, another championship celebration in LA remains nothing more than a dream. — Enjoy free coverage of the top news & trending stories with The Big Lead Newsletter —
