Jim Furyk is keeping close tabs on the PGA Tour right now given his upcoming roles in the golfing world.

Furyk has been appointed as the Team USA captain for the 2027 Ryder Cup, which takes place in Ireland next September.

Before that, however, the American veteran will serve as an assistant captain for Brandt Snedeker at the 2026 Presidents Cup.

And Furyk has now shared his excitement about the current state of the PGA Tour as that tournament approaches.

Jim Furyk loves what is happening on the PGA Tour right now

Speaking on Dan on Golf, 17-time PGA Tour winner Furyk said: “It’s not only [Jackson] Koivun, but down the list.

“[Chris] Gotterup, I think he is seventh on the points right now, [Akshay] Bhatia, [Jacob] Bridgeman, [Ryan] Gerard, [Alex] Smalley, Jake Knapp is injured right now.

“But then you had the three wins from guys under 25. I heard a stat saying that the last time three Americans won three weeks in a row under the age of 25 was 2017.

“Those guys were Jordan Spieth, Xander Schauffele and Bryson DeChambeau, so three pretty good ones! I think Grayson Murray was also in there, so four guys.

“I love it. I love the fact that we have got these young guys coming out. They are so prepared right out of college.

“They are going to put some stress on our wily veterans and I think it does interject a huge level of excitement.

“Having that wide-eyed, bushy-tailed but ready to go – like Scottie Scheffler at Whistling Straits. I kind of love that look.

“We had a young team there, when you look back, I think we might have had five or six rookies on that team.

“That was one of the criticisms of that team going on but they came out not scared at all and played some golf.

“I think a good mix of that youth and fire and also some wily veterans that put their arms around them and show them the ropes a little bit, possibly make some great pairings.”

Young Americans impress on PGA Tour as Presidents Cup approaches

It has indeed been quite the spell for young American golfers, who have claimed the last three PGA Tour titles.

All under the age of 25, Koivun won the 3M Open, Michael Thorbjornsen won the Rocket Classic, and Michael Brennan won the Wyndham Championship.

Particularly impressing, 21-year-old Koivun qualified for the FedExCup Playoffs after just five starts, matching the great Tiger Woods.

However, the battle continues for spots on the US Team for the Presidents Cup, where six qualifiers join six captain’s picks.

The six automatic qualifiers will be determined following the BMW Championship, the second of three Playoff events.

It arrives in between this week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship and the TOUR Championship later this month.

Former US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley will also serve as a captain’s assistant at the Presidents Cup, which takes place at Medinah Country Club next month.
